The Mesopotamia is a region located in
the northwestern end of Argentina and is formed by the provinces
of Entre Ríos, Santa Fe,
Corrientes and Misiones.
It received this name because it is surrounded by two of the
most important rivers of the country: the Paraná and
Uruguay rivers. Due to the geographic conditions of the zone,
fishing is and has been one of the main activities for the
inhabitants, since the guaraníes, its first settlers.
The Mesopotamia is popular for its variety
of fish species which makes it a place chosen each year by
anglers who want to practice their favorite sport:
flyfishing dorados, and also for practicing angling
in general. In its rivers, streams and lakes you can find
different kinds of fishes such as pacú, pejerrey, patí,
sábalo, boga, surubí, and dorado.
Catch and Release, is a wise way of practicing
fishing which is becoming popular among anglers
that come to Mesopotamia. This is a healthy
trend for the region because it helps reducing the loss of
units, that has become a problem in some places.
